Gaupnefjord, Lusterfjord, Sognefjord
PlusCamp Sandvik Camping is 50 meters away from the Gaupnefjord, which is a side arm of the Lusterfjord. Both fjords are again a side arm of the Sognefjord, the largest and longest fjord in Norway. With a length of 205km. it is 1 of the 3 longest fjords in the world and it is not surprising called the King of the fjords.
Nigardsbreen, Jostedalsbreen
The Nigardsbreen is located in the Jostedal, at about 36km. from PlusCamp Sandvik Camping. The road to it is rather winding, so it's a good idea to park the tent or caravan at PlusCamp Sandvik Camping. The Nigardsbreen is part of the Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier in Europe with an area of no less than 487km2 (larger than the Netherlands). You can visit the (foot of the) Nigardsbreen yourself, if you want to go on the Nigardsbreen ... then you can book a glacier tour.
Location between Sogndal and Sognefjellet on the “55”
The National Tourist Route "55" is one of the most beautiful and spectacular routes in Norway. The road runs from the town of Sogndal directly along the fjord via Gaupne towards the end of the valley in Skjolden. Along the way you can visit the beautiful stave church of Urnes and make a glacier tour on the Nigardsbreen. In Skjolden the climb over the Sognefjellet - the highest road in Northern Europe accessible by car - starts in the direction of Lom. Along the way you have a beautiful view of the snowy peaks of the Jotunheimen.
