Magalaupe Camping in Oppdal in the Sor Trondelag region
Small campsite directly on the Driva river in an impressive setting. Great place for wonderful walks and spectacular mountain-bike tours. Father of owner takes care of musk-ox safari trips from the campsite. Magalaupe Camping has well-maintained sanitary facilities, some play equipment and free WIFI. The campsite is located approximately 11km. south of Oppdal on a parallel road of the E6. Also a great transit campsite. Camping uses - especially by Norwegian standards - a great overnight rate.
Personal attention
Magalaupe Camping has been run by the Fjeldsetnes family for many years. In the past father Ingmar ran the campsite, now daughter Anja is in charge. And that can be seen on the campsite. There is not only a lot of attention for the (often annually returning) campers, but also for the sanitary and the beautiful surroundings.
At Magalaupe Camping
There are not many facilities at Magalaupe Camping, but what there is…. Is very fine. There is a camper service area, bicycles can be rented, there are a number of play equipment, there is free WIFI and from the summer of 2026, a brand-new sanitary building and reception is in use. A large lounge area has also been created. In addition to the camping pitches which are largely situated along the Driva River, Magalaupe Camping has a number of nice cabins.
Musk ox safari
The former owner of Magalaupe Camping was a highly experienced guide for spotting the impressive musk oxen. Now, one of his granddaughters has taken over his role. The guide takes you to the Dovrefjell National Park, the only place in Europe where these musk oxen - weighing between 200 and 450 kilos and being able te reach a speed of 60 km. per hour - still living in freedom. An unforgettable experience!
Location between Otta and Trondheim
Magalaupe Camping is located on a parallel road along the E6. Just about in the middle between Otta and Trondheim. Ideal if you are traveling for example from Oslo to Trondheim and are looking for a nice place to stay 1 or a few days. Among other things to throw out a fishing rod, experience a musk safari or to go hiking in the Rondane or Dovrefjell National Parks.
