The surroundings of Biristrand
There is a lot to do in the immediate vicinity of Biristrand. A visit to the Olympic cities of Lillehammer, Gjovik and Hamar is recommended. Just 26km. away you will find Hunderfossen Familypark, one of the largest amusement parks in Norway and very popular for families with children. The area is also very popular in winter. For example, in Lillehammer you will find the Lysgardsbakken, the ski jump that was used during the Olympic Games. But Hafjell, a family-friendly ski area just outside Lillehammer, is also recommended.
The city of Lillehammer is of course known for the 1994 Winter Olympics, but even before then Lillehammer was a popular holiday destination in both summer and winter. This of course also has to do with the wide range of museums and cultural centers such as the Lillehammer Art Museum, the Norwegian Olympic Museum and Maihaugen, one of the largest open-air museums in Norway.
Located directly on Lake Mjosa near Lillehammer
Furuodden Camping is located near the E6, directly on the enormous Lake Mjosa. Just 14km. from Lillehammer. But the other Olympic cities Hamar (49km.) and Gjovik (33km.) are also easily accessible.
