Holungsoy Camping in Vaga in the Innlandet (Oppland) region
Holungsoy Camping is a small campsite which is beautifully situated between the “15” (which runs from Otta to Lom) and the river Otta. The campsite is approximately 23km. from Otta (junction with the E6) and 7km. from Vaga where you will find a number of shops (including 2 supermarkets), a gas station and a very beautiful wooden church. In addition to the camping pitches, Holungsoy Camping also has different types of cabins. The area is very popular with hikers and nature lovers. Not surprising, of course, with the National Parks Dovrefjell, Rondane and Jotunheimen as neighbors.
Jotunheimen, Rondane and Dovrefjell National Park
In the immediate vicinity of Holungsoy Camping you will find no less than 3 National Parks: Jotunheimen, Rondane and Dovrefjell Nasjonalpark. In Jotunheimen Nasjonalpark you will find the highest mountains in Norway and the park is huge with a total area of 3.500km2. The Galdhopiggen is Norway's highest mountain and very popular with hikers. With so many National Parks in the immediate vicinity, it is almost difficult for a nature lover to make a choice.
At Holungsoy Camping
Holungsoy Camping is a small, well-maintained campsite right along the Otta River. You can set up your camper, caravan or tent directly along the river and cast your fishing rod from under your awning or enjoy the wonderful view. Holungsoy Camping has simple, but well-maintained sanitary facilities, a playground with trampoline and free WIFI.
Air sports center and winter sports in the vicinity of Holungsoy Camping
Close to the campsite (2km. distance) you will find the air sports center of Vaga (for paragliding, among other things). Do you prefer to go out in the winter: at only 24km. distance from the campsite you will find various skiing and cross-country skiing possibilities. And so Holungsoy Camping is also a great location to spend the night for winter sports. Because the campsite is open all year round. The friendly owner will gladly tell you more about the possibilities.
Central location between Otta and Lom
If you are en route from Oslo towards, for example, the Sognefjord or the Geirangerfjord, then Holungsoy Camping in Vaga is the ideal place to stay. The campsite is a about a 4-hour drive from Oslo between Otta and Lom. In Lom you can take the beautiful “55” over the Sognefjellet towards the Sognefjord or follow the “15” towards Stryn and Geiranger.
