Nice cozy campsite in an impressive setting at the foot of the Rondane National Park. Only separated by the river Lagen along the E6 between Otta and Dombas.
Dovreskogen Camping in Dovreskogen in the Innlandet region (Oppland)
Dovreskogen Camping is a small cozy campsite right on the river Lagen where you can fish. On arrival you will be kindly welcomed by the owners Eva and Bjarne. They are happy to tell you more about the area, because they are nature lovers themselves and like to walk through "their" beautiful environment. Not surprising, of course, if you live at the foot of the Rondane National Park and 2 other large National Parks (Dovrefjell and Jotunheimen) are in the immediate vicinity.
National Parks Rondane, Jotunheimen and Dovrefjell
Due to its location - at the foot of Rondane National Park, Norway\'s oldest National Park - Dovreskogen Camping is very popular with hikers and nature lovers. The park is 962km2 in size and you will find no less than 10 mountains with a top above 2.000 meters. Jotunheimen National Park is also easily accessible from the campsite and, like Rondane National Park, a popular hiking area. A little further north is Dovrefjell National Park, “the National Park of the Musk Ox”. Despite their weight - between 250 and 450 kilos - these huge animals can reach a speed of no less than 60km. per hour. It is recommended to book a Musk Ox safari to see them well and safely.
At Dovreskogen Camping
A number of nice cabins are rented out at the campsite. From simple cabins to well-equipped cabins with private sanitary facilities. Dovreskogen Camping has a very nice grill area by the river, a small playground, there are good fishing opportunities and you can also swim in the river Lagen.
Located along the E6 between Otta and Dombas
Dovreskogen Camping is located directly along the E6 at about 26km. north of Otta and 21km. south of Dombas. Ideal if you are on your way from Oslo to Trondheim or if the Lofoten or the North Cape is your final destination. Ideal as a stopover, but certainly also for a longer stay because of the endless hiking possibilities in the area.
