This beautifully situated campsite is located between Alvdal and the E6 near Hjerkinn. Ideal starting point to visit Rondane and Dovrefjell National Parks.

Grimsbu Turistsenter in Grimsbu in the Innlandet (Hedmark) region

This beautifully situated campsite is located in the west of the Innlandet (Hedmark) region at 40km. from the E6 at Hjerkinn and only 30km. of the "3" at Alvdal. Because of the beautiful nature around the campsite and the nearby Rondane and Dovrefjell National Parks (musk ox safari), the campsite is very popular with hikers and nature lovers. A longer stay is therefore recommended and that works out well, because there is a discount for a stay longer than 2 days.

Personal attention

Since 1963, the Rønning Family has been running this beautifully situated campsite. In addition to the campsite, the family also runs a motel, snack bar and restaurant. Very handy if you don't feel like cooking food. Do you want to be into the nature? Advice about the National Parks? The owner is happy to tell you more about it and hiking routes are available at the reception.

At Grimsbu Turistsenter

The camping pitches at Grimsbu Turistsenter are situated on grass. For the most beautiful places (keep to the left after the entrance and then follow the path) you have to be on time - certainly in high season - but there are plenty of other nice places on the campsite. In addition to the camping pitches, the campsite has a large number of cabins and motel rooms. WIFI on the campsite is free. The sanitair is well cared for.

Rondane National Park and Dovrefjell National Park

Grimsbu Turistsenter is located near 2 large National Parks. Rondane National Park has no less than 10 mountains that are higher than 2000 meters. The highest is Rondeslottet with 2178 meters. It is Norway's oldest park. The Dovrefjell National Park is particularly known for the presence of the mighty musk oxen. Musk ox safaris can be booked from various locations. The park has a wide variety of nature. High mountains (Snohetta, 2286 meters), nice lakes and spectacular waterfalls.

Location between Alvdal and the E6 near Hjerkinn

Many campers opt for a stay at Grimsbu Turistsenter because of its location. Not only because of the breathtaking view, but also because the campsite is on the route from the Innlandet (Hedmark) region in eastern Norway via the E6 towards Oppdal or towards Dombas and then Andalsnes or Alesund. Or of course to drive from the E6 towards Innlandet (Hedmark - Roros!) or the Swedish border.
